How To Get a Library Card

Eligibilty:
You must live in a Massachusetts community which is eligible to receive State Aid to Libraries Grants or be a full-time student in Massachusetts. However, college library cards may only be used at college libraries.
Current library cards from other public libraries in C/WMARS may be used to borrow Meekins materials.
Children must be at least 4 years old to register
, and a parent or guardian must co-sign the application. All children who sign-up for their first library card receive a "welcome" book bag with prizes inside!

Applying for a card during "Covid times":
You can apply for a card online (email application and scans of required documents to meekins@cwmars.org) or leave a manilla envelope with the printed application and scans of required documents in the dropbox at Meekins. To register you must:
  1. Fill out an online  or print application
  2. Present a photo ID, such as
    • a driver's license,
    • a passport, or
    • school ID
  3. Present proof of current mailing address, such as
    • recently cancelled mail with current address,
    • a driver's license with current address,
    • pre-printed bank checks with current address,
    • a lease
    • up-to-date car registration, or
    • FID card.
  4. Present proof of current residential address if it differs from your mailing address.
Out of state visitors:
If you live in another state, you may purchase a library card for an annual fee of $35.

To check out library materials or request items from other libraries, you must have a current library card in good standing. (Total library bills of any kind must be under $10.00.)

Damaged/Lost Items

It is the patron's responsibility to pay for any items that are lost or damaged. If an item is lost or damaged, the patron will be charged full replacement cost for the item, plus a processing fee of $2 per item. The patron may clear their account by returning the items if found, or paying the billed cost. Replacement items will not be accepted for lost or damaged items. Checks must be made out to the owning library.
Any exceptions must be approved by the owning library and the director. Failure to replace or pay for lost or damaged items may result in suspension of borrowing privileges at the Meekins Library and other libraries in the C/WMARS consortium.
