When trying to review checked out items or outstanding holds, you may be returned to a screen that says your validation has expired and asks you to re-enter your patron info. You may see the following error message: "566 Response HTTP Version Unsupported" when trying to Search the Catalog while logged in.
If you’re having difficulties accessing all of the functions that are available to you when logged into the PAC (Public Access Catalog), read on for troubleshooting advice.
1. Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
When using the proprietary web browsers that are provided by AOL, Compuserve, Walmart Connect, and similar ISPs, you may be unable to take full advantage of the patron record options that are offered when logging in to the C/W MARS online library catalog.
People who access the Internet via these ISPs will need to use another (standard) web browser when logging in to the C/W MARS PAC.
Internet Explorer seems to work best and comes installed on most Windows PCs. Connect to the Internet with your normal software, minimize or close that browser, and start up Internet Explorer to use the C/W MARS catalog.
If you do not have Internet Explorer on your PC, the latest version can be downloaded from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp
2. Internet Explorer's Content Advisor can cause problems in the PAC. If you have this option enabled in Internet Explorer, disable it before logging in to the PAC.
In Internet Explorer 6, the Content Advisor can be enabled/disabled by first clicking on Tools, then Internet Options. In the Window that comes up, click on the Content tab. The Content Advisor settings are at the top of that window.
3. If you are using a standard version of Internet Explorer or Netscape, make sure that "cookies" is enabled in your browser. The system relies on temporary cookies to track some of the things that you do within the PAC.
