Wild Reads at Meekins Library!

Summer Reading Program

Wild Reads at Meekins Library

Saturday, June 21st at 1:00 young people ages 0-19 are invited to sign up for the annual summer reading program at the Meekins Library in Williamsburg. Sign-up will start at 1:00 pm with pots of glitter, glue, feathers, stars and sequins as each participant creates their own mask to kick-off this summer’s reading program-- WILD READS at your library. Local artist and mom, Cyndy Sperry will be on hand as young artists create wildly wonderful masks. Refreshments will be served.

Lui Collins, director and teacher of Hilltown Music Together, will begin a five week music series for children ages 0-5 and their parents on Tuesday, July 8th at 1:30. Not just a musical time together, Lui gives parents and children tools to use and a way to weave music throughout their day. You’ll bring music home from your time at the library with Lui. Sign-up for this series starts on Saturday the 21st and is required for participation in Lui’s Summer Jam. Watch for more information soon.

Thursday, July 31st at 6:30, Tom Ricardi, founder of Massachusetts Bird of Prey rehabilitation facility of Conway and wild raptor expert from will present a program on Birds of Prey. Tom rescues and releases an average of one hundred birds a year. He has 70 birds that are permanent residents at his facility that cannot be released due to injury. Tom brings live wild birds to his presentation; the program is recommended for ages 8 and up.

Throughout the summer children keep track of the amount of time they read and trade reading hours for prizes. As part of the program parents, siblings and caretakers read aloud to younger children, while pre-teens and teens are rewarded for the time they read as well as earning a stamp on a teen card—X-pect the un-X-pected @ your library for each visit to the library.
